3 Reasons Why it's a Good Idea to Register Your Company

Registering a company is a big, yet simple step, that comes with a number of benefits. In this post, we’re going to look at three reasons why you should take the plunge and register your company. If in the end, you do decide that now is the time, register a company here! Let’s get started.

Reserve your company name

One of the great things about registering your company is that it reserves the name you have chosen, therefore stopping anyone else from using it. Even if you have no intention of trading in the near future, by forming the company you are protecting it. In fact, even if you have no intention of trading at all as a limited company and want to operate as a sole trader, you can still form a limited company to safeguard your brand.

Gives you credibility

It’s a peculiar thing but having Limited or Ltd at the end of your company name looks good. It adds credibility and respectability. Plus, it gives an aura of trustworthiness – the company is on the Companies House register, it’s official.

Protect your liability

By registering your company you are protecting yourself from paying out vast sums if it all goes wrong. With a sole trader there is no distinction between personal wealth and business wealth, meaning if the operation were to falter, the sole trader would be wholly liable. With a limited company, shareholders (the owners) are only liable for the amount of unpaid shares that they have in the company.
