Nominee Director
A person or company acts as a company's director for the purpose of fulfilling the legal requirement to have a director and perhaps to protect the identities of the persons actually controlling the company.
Nominee directors seldom have an active role in the company as the risks associated with accepting responsibility for another persons actions can be great. Dormant companies may sometimes use a nominee director as the director does not have the same level of exposure as he would have if the company was trading.
The director would normally charge for the services of putting his name to the organisation. Nominee directors share the same level of responsibilities as do normal directors.
