How long does it take to form a company?

It is currently taking Companies House (the UK’s registrar of companies) an average of 15 hours to process limited company incorporations. This being the amount of time it takes for a company to be formed once the company information has been completed and the incorporation request has been sent to Companies House.

This increase in formation time can, in part, be put down to the fact that more companies are being formed now than ever before – which of course means an increase in the amount of formation requests that Companies House need to handle.

We’ve also noticed that the rise in incorporation time correlates with the introduction of the ‘People with Significant Control Register’ – it’s very possible that the increase is to do with more information now being recorded at Companies House.

We should stress that this is an industry-wide issue. Regardless of who you form with; us, another formation agent, or Companies House – the amount of time it takes to form a limited company will be the same.

If you do need a company formed urgently, we offer a ‘Guaranteed Same Day Formation’ service for £24.99 (on top of your company formation package price). To buy this service:
