What are corporate appointments?
All UK limited companies must have at least one director, one shareholder and one person with significant control (PSC). All these roles can be taken by one person, however – as well being able to appoint other people, you can also appoint other companies in roles too. These are called corporate appointments.
To appoint a corporate director you will require the following information*:
- Company name
- Authorising person’s name (eg a director from the company)
- Registered office address
- Company type – EEA or Non EEA?
- Country registered
- Registration number
- Governing law
- Legal form
*Your company must have at least one person in the director role
To appoint a corporate shareholder you will require the following information:
- Company name
- Authorising person’s name
- Registered office address
- Number of shares held
- Value of shares held
To appoint a corporate PSC you will require the following information:
- Company name
- Registered office
- Company number
- Legal form
- Governing law
- Nature of control
Although the secretary is now an optional appointment, you can still appoint a corporate secretary if you wish. To appoint a corporate secretary you will require the following information:
- Company name
- Authorising person’s name (eg a director from the company)
- Registered office address
- Company type – EEA or Non EEA?
- Country registered
- Registration number
- Governing law
- Legal form

1. Navigate to the relevant appointment:

3. Enter the required information and then select ‘Continue’
4. Complete the company formation process
If you’ve already formed your company and now want to make a corporate appointment:
1. Log in to Company Formation MadeSimple
2. Select ‘My Companies’ and click on your company name:
3. Scroll down to the relevant section and click the link:
4. Click the corporate appointment link:
5. Enter the required information and then select ‘Continue’ – the appointment is normally accepted within a few working hours
